Expert Access Legal Services

Schoenberg, Finkel, Newman & Rosenberg Ltd.
A Group Legal Services Program To Provide You With Knowledgeable Counsel and Representation
With Lower-Than-Normal Charges
From The Law Firm That Knows and Understands
What Your Business Is All About!

  • As a member of GHTA you have the privilege of free telephone consultation with GHTA’s own attorneys, Schoenberg, Fisher, Newman & Rosenberg Ltd. (SFNR)
  • This saves time for you and for your legal advisors (reflected in lower billings). You don’t have to explain what the rep business is all about and your legal matter is probably one where SFNR has already done the research and knows the law and the precedents.
  • Fees are quoted in advance for standard services—incorporations, company employment manuals, review of manufacturer-rep agreements, etc.
  • No pre-enrollment required—as a GHTA member you are automatically in the program.
As an important member service, GHTA has arranged with Schoenberg, Finkel, Newman & Rosenberg Ltd. (SFNR) to provide a no-charge telephone consultation on the legal aspects of any matter confronting your business. The SFNR partners who coordinate this program for the firm are Gerald M. Newman, Adam J. Glazer and Leonard J. Gambino. They will either personally provide the counsel you seek or refer you to the attorney in the firm with the most experience in your area of concern. After decades of responding to inquiries from manufacturers’ representatives, SFNR has found that nine out of ten queries are satisfactorily answered in a single phone call. If you question is more involved, requires research or a written opinion, SFNR will estimate the cost of providing the additional information and/or service. You can then decide whether or not to pursue the matter, and whether or not to retain SFNR as your counsel. Schoenberg, Finkel, Newman & Rosenberg’s fees are normally time-based. Special consideration is given to GHTA members through the economies of scale this group program provides and because of the firm’s relationship with GHTA. Certain matters may be handled on a contingency basis. All financial matters will be reviewed with you at the outset where applicable. About Schoenberg, Finkel, Newman & Rosenberg Ltd.
  • Over five decades of experience with manufacturers’ representative clients and with rep-manufacturer relationships.
  • Based in Chicago; practicing nationwide.
  • Regular newsletter columnists on legal matters; lecturers and panelists at many rep association conferences.
  • Broad based practice.

Expert Access Family Business Consulting

SCHNEIDER CONSULTING GROUP

Generating High Performance Family Businesses The Schneider Consulting Group, Inc, established in 1987, is an internationally recognized family business consulting firm. Throughout the succession planning journey, Schneider Consulting Group helps the family and the business plan for, communicate about, and generate high performance family businesses. Worldwide, three-fourths of all businesses are family-owned. According to the 2003 Mass Mutual/Raymond Institute American Family Business Survey, 80-90 percent of business in the U.S. are family-owned, 39 percent of which are expected to transfer ownership in the next five years. More than 30 percent of all family-owned businesses survive into the second, and just over 10 percent of those survive into the third generation. Succession planning is both a technical and emotional process for business-owning families. The technical aspects address issues such as tax, wealth transfer, ownership, control, governance, leadership, and organizational development. The emotional aspects include communication, conflict resolution, decision-making, team building, and family dynamics. A comprehensive succession plan comes from advice provided by many professionals, including tax accountants, estate planners, wealth managers, business advisors, and family counselors. The planning process for a family-owned business ideally should address three areas as interrelated, not independent. These are: 1) Ownership; 2) Business; and 3) Family. Family business consultants, like Schneider Consulting Group, make sure that all three areas are working together toward common goals. The firm often collaborates with other service professionals to craft systemic (total) solutions tailored to each client. Further, once a family has a succession plan, Schneider Consulting Group serves as a tour guide, facilitator, and coach in the implementation process.

Frank S. Schneider and Kirn Schneider Malek have extensive backgrounds in succession planning, business management, decision-support systems, operations, organizational and leadership development, team building, conflict resolution, and family counseling. They frequently present at national and international conferences, in addition to teaching high performance management, communication, and family business strategies in the graduate program at the University of Denver Daniels College of Business. They also contribute a monthly column to the Denver Business Journal and are actively involved in the Family Firm Institute, Turnaround Management Association, and the Institute of Management Consultants.
